The Project
The aim of this project is to create an awareness of the use of energy and to look into new forms of sustainable energy, bearing in mind that saving is the key principle. To achieve this we first want to research how much energy is in fact used by our each school, communities and national states (including average usage per household and usage by industry) to give a picture of the main energy uses in each country.
Within each nation, community and school we will also look at what renewable energy resources are already in use and how much energy is supplied by these resources. As a second step we want to devise a plan to lower energy usage for the participating schools and implement it. This plan shall include simple clues for every day life (switching off lights, switch off computers and electronic devices instead of leaving them on standby mode) as well as scientific devices (use of solar cells and thermostats). The results of one year energy saving shall be presented in a school ranking.
A third pillar of the project will be the cooperation with local companies and authorities. Students will get an insight into new techniques regarding sustainable energy with learning being presented as a cyber museum. Each school will also present some examples of especially successful and innovative energy production from their local environment in a calendar at the end of the project.
